A deeper form of sedation, oral conscious sedation uses a prescribed pill that you take an hour or so before your appointment. You’ll need a ride to and from your appointment for this sedation level. The effect of oral conscious sedation lasts a lot longer than nitrous oxide. It’s ideal if you need multiple treatments and need to sit in the chair for a long time.

The effects of this treatment last for hours. You’ll be more relaxed and euphoric than you would with nitrous oxide. While this medication doesn’t put you to sleep, you may fall asleep or not remember parts of your procedure because you’re so relaxed. Have someone sit with you at home until the medication has fully worn off.
