Oxnard, CA
Many patients avoid visiting the dentist due to a fear of the dentist. Dental anxiety can make it very difficult for patients to commit to visiting the dentist at least twice a year for preventative dental care. At Beach Cities Dental Group in Oxnard, CA, Dr. Georgia Haddad offers sedation dentistry to help patients feel completely relaxed and at ease so they may receive the dental care they need.
Visiting our Oxnard, CA, dentist’s office every 6 months allows for thorough teeth cleanings that can help prevent the development of advanced dental concerns such as decay, tooth loss, and gum disease. Do not let your fear of the dentist compromise your well-being and oral health.
Dr. Haddad approaches dentistry with compassion and attention to the individual patient. Our dental care team takes the time to listen and educate every patient so that they feel at ease, knowing they are making informed decisions to improve their well-being.
No-prep dental veneers are designed to be a semi-permanent dental restoration and should last many years with proper oral hygiene and care. With little to no tooth preparation needed, DURAthin eliminates the concerns of removing healthy tooth structures associated with traditional dental veneers.
Yes, there are mild side effects you may experience. You’re less likely to have side effects when your sedation method is nitrous oxide. The most common is grogginess. You also may notice dry mouth and periods of amnesia when you’re coming out of sedation, headache, or nausea.
You may remember some of it when you have nitrous oxide sedation. With oral conscious sedation, it’s rare that you remember your treatment. While the sedation doesn’t put you to sleep, you may fall asleep during the procedure because you’re so relaxed.
When you get nitrous oxide sedation, the effects wear off pretty directly. It’s the only form of sedation where you can drive yourself to and from the appointment. We give you the proper amount of sedation for your procedure with oral sedation. The effects can last anywhere from 1-6 hours. You’ll still have lingering effects after the procedure and won’t be able to drive yourself.
You’ll need to take the remainder of the day off after your procedure. Make sure that you get rest and don’t try to operate any heavy machinery for at least 24 hours. For a few hours after the procedure, have someone with you who can keep an eye on you until the heavier sedation impacts wear off.
No, sedation helps you to feel relaxed and relieves anxiety. Anesthesia is what relieves pain. We use a combination of the two to ensure that you get an experience that’s comfortable and pain-free.
We’ll do a full examination and discuss your medical history and current medication. We want to ensure that nothing is going to interfere or create a bad reaction. Most patients will be eligible for sedation, but some health problems may make you ineligible.
If you suffer from dental anxiety and have avoided the dentist for some time, Dr.Haddad is highly experienced at treating complex restorative cases. Our compassionate and welcoming dental care team will take the time to get to know you. They listen to all of your dental concerns so that they may better prepare you for treatment.
